Believe

You know how sometimes the best ideas come to you, just as you're drifting off to sleep?  That's what happened to me with today's card.  It struck me just as I was falling asleep, and I sat bolt upright in the bed, and picked up my phone to make a note for myself so I wouldn't lose it.  This card is incredibly simple, but perfect for Christmas!

This very simple and pretty Christmas card, was created with Fun Stampers Journey Holiday Script and Winter Build-A-Scene Stamp Sets.

I began by stamping the deer image onto a piece of Buttercream card stock.  I made sure the ink was completely dry, then stamped the sentiment over the top, and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.  I dotted a bit of Cranberry Bliss Silk onto the deer's nose.  Once that was dry, I went back in and watercolored on a small amount of Sparkle Silk.  The panel was adhered to a Cranberry Bliss card base.

So simple and easy, and would be very easy to assemble in multiples.  The supplies are listed and linked in the list below for US readers, however, come November 1st, those who live internationally will FINALLY have the chance to get their hands on some of these fun FSJ products.  I highly recommend the Sparkle Silk (As I'm writing this, it is not listed yet, but I've linked you to the search for the silks, for reference.  The full bundle of the silk colors is listed currently.), Liquid Colors, PanPastels and Stamp Cleaner (Contains affiliate links - where I earn a commission from purchases made from my links, at no cost to you. Christmas Poinsettia Card | Video

I've wanted to recreate this card design for some time, but had not quite figured out what stamp combo I wanted to use.  When I was going through some of my Christmas stamps though, that particular design  immediately struck me with these two stamp sets.

This pretty Christmas card is super easy to create, and a fun way to showcase a sentiment with a matching die. Fun Stampers Journey Poinsettia Burst, and Holiday Script Stamps used.

As always, a full list of the products used in this project is at the bottom of this post.  Compensated affiliate links are used where possible, at no cost to you.

I started out, by cutting masks - lots, and lots, of masks.  I stamped the image on sticky notes, and then trimmed out the stamped image right along the edge.  Then, I started stamping my flower.  I would stamp a flower image, then mask the image to stamp the next flower.  I stamped one more flower than I had created masks, so I did have to move one mask when I went back and stamped the greenery.

This pretty Christmas card is super easy to create, and a fun way to showcase a sentiment with a matching die. Fun Stampers Journey Poinsettia Burst, and Holiday Script Stamps used.

Once I stamped my panel, I die cut the coordinating die from the center of the panel.  Then, I temporarily adhered the panel down, so that I could I line up the stamp with the die cut, and I stamped the sentiment in Clear Pigment Ink, onto my Whip Cream Card Base.  I removed the stamped panel, so that I could heat emboss the sentiment. and then reattached it with foam squares for a little dimension.

I realized after I had attached the panel, that I had wanted to add some Sparkle Silk, that was no problem, however. I simply put the die cut portion of the panel in place while I added the Sparkle Silk, and then removed it after, so that the sentiment was still "clean".

Thanks for stopping by!

Much love,

Peaceful Snowfall

As I'm writing this, we've reached that point of a western Idaho summer, where I start day dreaming of shoveling snow.  It's so hot that winter is starting to look appealing!  I'm going to lock myself in the craft room with the AC cranked up and a few fans going, but meanwhile, I'm going to share this pretty little winter-y card.

This pretty color combo lend to the chilly, wintery, feel of this card. Created using Fun Stampers Journey Snow Bloom Die Set, and the Holiday Script Stamp and Die Bundle.

I started this card out by embossing my Tin Pail card front, and then sprinkling some Sparkle silk across the background, concentrating it on the right side.  I die cut my other pieces, and then rubbed the snowflake with some Silver Pan Pastel.  In person, there is almost a pearlized effect on the snowflake.  I layered the vellum border with strips of Mirror Silver and Pool Play, before adding my Scallop Circle on some foam squares - trimming the excess off - and then adding the snowflake.  A heat embossed (and die cut) sentiment, and a few fashion silver pieces finished off the card.

Christmas Joy

Black, white, and a little bit of red make a perfect Christmas card.  I used the super cute deer print from the Christmas Cheer Prints, and the Flannel Life stamp to create my background.

I chose to echo the ornaments dangling from the deers antlers, by creating some small red ornaments using the Tag This punch cartridge.  Adding a little Journey Glaze and Sparkle Dust finished off the ornaments.

Designer Showcase Blog Hop | Christmas Tags

Welcome to another Designer's Showcase Blog Hop! This month we are featuring Christmas Gift Tags.

I love making gift tags.  They are all the fun of a card front, PLUS you get to attach them to a fun gift!  I chose to begin my tags by cutting the largest oval die with the piercing detail.

Both tags were embossed using Bloom Benefit Embossing Folders.  The Brocade Imprints Folder (on the "Christmas Tag") from the Annual Catalog, and the Ho Ho Ho Bold Embossing Folder (on the "Peace" tag) from the Holiday Catalog.

On the Peace tag, I used a large snowflake die cut with the Snow Blooms Die Set.  I mixed some Sparkle Silk and water on a pallet to the side, then painted it onto the snowflake.

I used the same technique to add sparkle to the poinsettias on the Christmas tag.  Both tags also included heat embossed and die cut sentiments.

The punch press made the hole in the top to add some Journey Twine, and organza ribbon to finish off the tags.

Neutral Winter Card

I adore the neutral tones on the card for today.  I don't often think neutrals for Christmas/Winter cards, but they can be really pretty!

I used my homemade sparkle embossing powder for the sentiment.  I love the sparkle!

Gel Press Snowflake

This next weekend is going to be so much fun!  Why?  Well, I'm going to be at the Utah Pinners Conference on November 3rd and 4th.  I'm going to be in the Inking Idaho booth, A-13.  If you happen to be attending, come see us and say hi!

* * * * *

I wanted to play with my gel press recently, so I selected a bunch of fun ink colors, and created this pretty dark background.  I decided that it had a look like a dark winter sky, so I wanted  use it in that genre.

I splattered the gel press background with Sparkle Silk, and then glued it behind a card front with a snowflake cut out and heat embossed sentiment, and added more splatter with the Sparkle Silk.

Another card in the bin for Christmas!  Still a bunch to go though.  How many do you have left to put together?

Thanks for stopping by!

Peaceful Snowfall

When I sat down to make today's card, I thought it would be really simple and easy to do.  Yeah, I forgot that I'm not a fan of fiddly little pieces.  But, guess what?  Not liking the fiddly pieces meant that I was able to quickly figure out a way to put the inset pieces in, without having to mess with each individual piece.

So, here's today's tip: When you are doing inset pieces,  Cut your diecut pieces, and pull the diecut from the die carefully - trying to remove it in one "solid" piece.  Add the largest pieces to your background first - the Cool Pool in this card.   Add the adhesive to the background for ALL of the small little spaces.  In this case, I laid the snowflakes cut from the Blue Lagoon over the top of the Cool Pool snowflakes, then I used my Bloom Tool to push the smaller pieces of the Blue Lagoon into the spaces of the Cool Pool piece.   Then pull up the top die cut to reveal your inset cut.

Remember,  When I post Cards for inspiration, I link the supply used at the bottom of my post.  You can click through on each thumbnail to go straight to the Fun Stampers Journey store to purchase everything you need to complete the same card.  I would love to have you as a customer!

Joyful Christmas Card

For the last several years, I worked in a small scrapbook/craft store, and I know that many people feel that they are not creative.  I can't tell you the number of people that would look around at the stacks of papers, and just sign with frustration, as they would tell me they didn't know where to start.  I very much feel that EVERYONE is creative, but many people have not nurtured that side, and are unable to see how creative they can be.

I'm currently enrolled in a Business Development Boot Camp, and each week, we receive a stamping related assignment.  Last week, the assignment was to copy a card shown in the 2017-2018 Annual Inspiration Book & Catalog, but change up the stamps and colors. The point of this assignment is to actually show, how you don't HAVE to be creative - you can use the layouts and designs that others share as a starting off point, and then adjust to your favorite colors, or the stamps you have.  Let others do the hard work for you!

This handmade Christmas card was made using inspiration from the card from the cover of the Fun Stampers Journey 2017-2018 Inspiration Book and Catalog. Even when you feel you aren't creative, you can create fun and pretty cards using others for inspiration!

For my card, I used the cover image as my starting off point.  I copied the layout exactly, but switched to a Christmas theme, using Kraft, red, green, and gold as my color pallet.  The card "feels" different, even though the elements and placement are essentially the same.

I find this is a great technique to use as a jumping off point.  Everyone has the ability to create, but, like all muscles, when you haven't used it for some time, you have to train it.
"You can't use up creativity. The more you use the more you have."  -Maya Angelou
I'd like to challenge you to try this same exercise.  Pick a card, from the current catalog, or even from Pinterest, and change up the colors and stamps.  Be sure to come back and share it with me, by leaving a link to your blog or social media post in the comments below!  Happy Crafting!

Christmas Words

Another Christmas card for the pile!  I don't know about you, but each card I get made in advance of the Christmas crazies, makes me feel like I'm really on top of things (I'm not, but it feels like it!).

I love combining sentiments - the Text Happy Stamp Set makes adding a little extra something to to a basic sentiment easy.

Gleaming Poinsettia Card

In my world, it's never too early for Christmas.  We love Christmas in my house, and go all out - decorating our yard, home, and creating special handmade treats for those around us.  For many years now, I've sent handmade Christmas cards to my friends and family.  The list keeps getting longer - so the number of cards needed keeps growing.  Which means starting the process of creating the cards earlier and earlier!

For this card, I started with one of the $100 Bloom Benefits, the Brocade Imprints Embossing Folder.  I turned it backwards to use with some clear embossing ink brushed across the raised images.  I wanted something reminiscent of a fancy wallpaper, and once the panel was debossed, I was able to sprinkle on some gold embossing powder to fill the images.  Because it was not perfectly inked, this gave a very cool distressed look to the panel.

This handmade Christmas card gleams and sparkles with the addition of gold heat embossing, gold mirror paper, and DIY sparkle embossing powder. Featuring Fun Stampers Journey Christmas Cheer Prints, Poinsettia Burst Stamps, Holiday Script Stamps, and Brocade Imprints Embossing Folder. To order, visit: funstampersjourney.com/muchlovesara

I wanted to make some super sparkly poinsettias for this card, and really take the BLING level up.  So I pulled out an old trick, to make the flowers shine.

This handmade Christmas card gleams and sparkles with the addition of gold heat embossing, gold mirror paper, and DIY sparkle embossing powder. Featuring Fun Stampers Journey Christmas Cheer Prints, Poinsettia Burst Stamps, Holiday Script Stamps, and Brocade Imprints Embossing Folder. To order, visit: funstampersjourney.com/muchlovesara

I really like the way this card turned out.  All the gleam, and sparkle really appeal to may love of shiny things.
