Blooms in Boots | Hand Colored Thinking of You Card

As I'm writing this post, I'm looking out my craft room window at some dreary skies, and a patchy coating of snow that has fallen over the last week.  Typically at this point in the year in Boise, I'm starting to watch for flower buds popping through the soil, and the grass is in that weird stage where you can see it starting to change from the wintery yellow/brown to a light green.   Any snow that falls melts, nearly immediately.  We've had a mild winter here this year, but it was still winter.  And I'm dreaming of spring flowers and warm drizzly rain.  Which leads me into today's card...

This springtime card, features the gorgeous Fun Stampers Journey Blooms in Boots Stamp set (available exclusively as a Bloom Benefit through the end of March). Colored with the Journey Color Burst color pencils - find out how to get a step by step video tutorial on how to color this image - as a FREE purchase bonus - in the blog post

I wanted some of those springtime colors in my life, so I stamped out the Blooms in Boots ATS (a Bloom Benefit available ONLY until the end of March!) .  I masked off the first image, and stamped it again, to create a "pair" of boots.  Then I colored in the image.  I fussy cut out the boots, and put foam squares on the back.  I stamped the Flannel Life background stamp in Cool Pool onto a card front, then die cut a circle from Whip Cream to add a layer of separation between the patterned background and the colorful boots.  I stamped, and heat embossed, the sentiment onto a strip of River Stone Card Stock.  Then I layered all of my pieces together, adding a River Stone mat to the back of the card front.

Now, here's where the fun part of this post comes in!  I have something special planned for you!  From now, through the end of March, when you purchase a set of the Journey Color Burst pencils from my shop, not only can you choose the Blooms in Boots stamp as your FREE Bloom Benefit gift, AND earn the Coach Collective edition shown below - YOU ALSO  will receive access to a private video showing you exactly how I colored the image above.  No blending solution, or special coloring paper, required.  Every color of pencil I use will be shown, I'll walk you through masking the image off, and give you my tips and tricks for coloring images with depth.  These pencils are so fun, and color beautifully.  I think you'll be happy to have them in your arsenal!

Video will be sent to all purchases including Color Burst pencils, made in my shop from February 28th - March 31st, regardless of additional items chosen.  Video link will be sent out beginning March 5th. Monochrome Bloom Burst

I couldn't help but add one more card to the bunch that I created with the Bloom Burst Stamp Set.  The gorgeous blooms are so pretty stamped even on their own, that I wanted to create a monochromatic card that highlighted the beautful detail in the blooms.

The gorgeous Bloom Burst Stamp created the background on this monochromatic handmade Thank you card. Using Fun Stampers Journey products.

I stamped the bloom on a Whip Cream card front.  I placed the first bloom coming in from the left edge, and then continued stamping around the edge of the card front, to fill the card front.  A heat embossed sentiment, on vellum, and a ribbon were layered on, and then pearls were added to finish off the card.

Birthday Yay! | Leadership Conference Display Card

It's no surprise to those who have been watching Assembled, but I've really been into watercoloring with my Splashes and silks lately.  This is the card that started all of that!

The large BDay Wall Stamp is perfect for the watercolor resist technique used on the backdrop of this card. The pretty aqua and teal tones make for a fun birthday card. All products used were from Fun Stampers Journey.

I started out by stamping and heat embossing the BDay Wall Stamp onto Color Splash paper.  Then I covered the paper in water.  I started brushing on the Pool Play Color Spash - spreading from the center, outwards.  I added additional layers as the paper dried to create some variation in the color.

I then stamped my additional sentiments on a strip of Blue Lagoon Card Stock, and mounted that on my card front, on top of a piece of Whip Cream Sparkle Tape, and with a bit of twine coiled behind.  A few flowers finished off the banner

Some Bunny

Are you ready for spring?  After a very mild winter, it suddenly got really cold over the last week, and I'm so ready for spring, and flowers, and warmer weather.  It definitely brings some spring holidays to mind.  And Easter always brings out the adorable stuff!

This sweet Easter Card, features the Hop Cuts Bloom Benefit, Love Bunny ATS, and Flannel Life background stamp - all from Fun Stampers Journey.

I love the way the Flannel Life stamp looks stamped in Whip Cream Ink.  So, so, pretty!  I paired purples and fushia pinks together for this card, for a pop of fun.  And the card has a fun element when turned slightly to the side - you can see the pink under the little white bunny.

The vellum puff tail kills me.  It's like a little cloud instead of the fluffy tail you expect - and offset it is just fun.

Colored Burst

You know how some stamps are just so gorgeous, they need very little embellishment.  The Bloom Burst Stamp set is exactly that.  I stamped the large Bloom in Whip Cream Ink, and added a bit of color with my pencils.

The Bloom Burst stamp set pops in shades of purple on this handmade card. Using Fun Stampers Journey products.

One of the easiest ways to make a stamp pop, is to add some dimension through shading.  Adding some shadows is super easy, and the Color Burst pencils blend nicely.  Once the color was added, I used the Large Blending brush to add some sparkle silk to the flower centers.

I carefully cut around the edges of the leaves and stem of the bloom, and wove the embossed sentiment strip underneath.

Ombre Smile | Leadership Conference Display Card

I had a bit of an ombre love affair going on, when I was creating my cards for my Leadership Conference Display.  It was partially fueled by this fun striped paper that was in the Spring Filled Prints pack.  While the coloring of the full piece is more rainbow, when cut to card front size, it is more ombre to me.

This colorful card was hand stamped with the FSJ Smile Hard ATS, and features ribbon that was dyed in an ombre style. All Fun Stampers Journey products used to create this fun card.

I really wanted to emphasize that with the ribbon accent on this card.  So I measured out my pieces and got to work creating a mess.  In my Media tray, I sprayed some of the Watermelon Splash into a puddle.  I soaked my ribbon in water, and then dipped the ends into the Splash.  I worked the color back and forth along the ribbon, trying to get a gradient.  Occasionally, I'd need to spray the lighter portion of the ribbon with more water, or re-dip the darker portion.  In between, I'd dry the ribbon with my heat gun (VERY CAREFULLY!).  Then keep going until I achieved the depth of color I wanted.  In the end I was left with two pieces of ribbon that were Bubblegum in the center, and Watermelon Fusion on the ends.

I heat embossed my sentiment onto vellum, tied a pretty bow with the ribbon, and added a few sequins for accent.  Super fun - and colorful - card!

Assembled! Season 1, Episode 4 | PLUS - Behind the Scenes

Episode 4 already?  We're halfway through Season 1!  In this episode, we use the Dahlia Burst Stamp Set, additional stamps, splashes, pearls/gems, and die cuts to create our finished cards.

As an additional bonus this week, I also did a live video showing a little behind the scenes peek of what I pack with me the weeks that I travel to Becky's house to film Assembled!

PLEASE NOTE: I'm using a new app when I shoot my live videos, and inserted a prerecorded video into the live.  Unfortunately, I could not tell if the sound was functioning, so there is a little bit of overlap in the audio at the start of the video.  It clears up within a minute.

I adore gold against a darker blue, don't you?  When I got a chance to play with the Bloom Burst Stamp set, I knew I had to heat emboss it - at least once!  All of the beautiful detail in this stamp makes it a stunning background.

The Bloom Burst Stamp Set, from Fun Stampers Journey, is gorgeous heat embossed in gold against a dark blue background. This simple, elegant, handmade, Thinking of you card comes together quickly.

To showcase the sentiment, I heat embossed it in white on a vellum strip.  I added a small strip of Mirror Gold paper to bring the gold to the front of the card as well, and some pearls for accent.

Small Things, Great Love | Leadership Conference Display Card

I was stoked to get the Storybook Occasions stamp set in my Designers Showcase box.  I love coloring, and having image that were absolutely adorable to color was so fun.

This adorable hand colored card, features the Storybook Occasions stamp set from Fun Stampers Journey. The image was colored in with Journey ColorBurst pencils.

I wanted this card to really emphasize the image, so I kept the tones in the background very subtle and spring-y.  The scallop cardstock piece was cut using the scallop flap from the envelo-box die.

Because this card was for the Leadership conference, and I was using a LOT of pencils, I did keep track!  Here's the numbers of all of the colors I used.  I used no blending fluid, or blending stumps with these pencils.  All of the blending was done with the pencils themselves.

It's supposed to get easier, right?  This week in Assembled, I'm dealing with a lingering cold, a broken tripod, and adding a little wrench I decided to throw into someone's plans...well, just watch.

Cheers!

A very quick post today!

This card was super fun, and an easy way to incorporate a patterned paper that may be a bit busy for your tastes.

This simple handmade card is perfect to make in bulk to keep in your stash for a last minute birthday wish. Made using Fun Stampers Journey Birthday Bash Embossing Folder, and Good Stuff Stamp Set.

The background was embossed, then the sentiment stamped onto the Whip Cream Card stock.  The die cuts are the same size, but slightly offset from one another.  A simple twine bow adds a bit of fluff and whimsy.  This card is super easy (less than 10 minutes!), easy to create in multiples, and works well for any age or gender.  It's a great all purpose birthday card to keep in your stash!

♥  ♥  ♥  ♥  ♥

When  I first saw this set, I knew I wanted it.  So, when it turned up in my Designer Showcase Box, I was giddy.  This was the very first card I made - within hours of receiving my box!  I stamped the Unicorn, and colored her in with my Color Burst pencils.  Of course, she had to have rainbow hair, and golden hooves and a horn.

I colored a Cool Pool splotch onto my background with PanPastel, and then stamped the gems.  I heat embossed them with gold, and then went back in to stamp the background sentiment.  I stamped the Cool Pool card stock with the sentiment and heat embossed that piece.
