Chalkboard Kindness

It's super easy to create the look of chalkboard art on a handmade card.  Ready to try it?

Create easy and beautiful chalkboard art using card stock, stamps, and a PanPastel. Featuring the Fun Stampers Journey Your Kindness ATS, available exclusively as a Bloom Benefit (a free gift with a purchase of $75 or more).

I began today's card with the Black Licorice Card Stock.  I cut the card stock to 3.75" x 5", and stamped the image from the  Your Kindness stamp in Clear Pigment Ink, and sprinkled it liberally with embossing powder.  After that was heat set, I used the Whip Cream PanPastel and the largest sponge applicator from the PanPastel set, to "scribble" on the background.  This lays down a layer of soft "chalky" looking haze.  If the PanPastel is too opaque, lightly brush a baby wipe over the background to remove a bit of color, and add to the streaky look.  To finish the image, I used a dry blending brush and the Whip Cream PanPastel to add a bit of shading to the flowers and leaves.

I matted the "chalkboard" panel onto a piece of Candy Apple Card Stock, and then added that to the printed paper background.  The whole card front was attached to an Oatmeal Cookie Card Base.  A few pearls added some more texture and the finishing touch.

Blooms in Boots | Hand Colored Thinking of You Card

As I'm writing this post, I'm looking out my craft room window at some dreary skies, and a patchy coating of snow that has fallen over the last week.  Typically at this point in the year in Boise, I'm starting to watch for flower buds popping through the soil, and the grass is in that weird stage where you can see it starting to change from the wintery yellow/brown to a light green.   Any snow that falls melts, nearly immediately.  We've had a mild winter here this year, but it was still winter.  And I'm dreaming of spring flowers and warm drizzly rain.  Which leads me into today's card...

This springtime card, features the gorgeous Fun Stampers Journey Blooms in Boots Stamp set (available exclusively as a Bloom Benefit through the end of March). Colored with the Journey Color Burst color pencils - find out how to get a step by step video tutorial on how to color this image - as a FREE purchase bonus - in the blog post

I wanted some of those springtime colors in my life, so I stamped out the Blooms in Boots ATS (a Bloom Benefit available ONLY until the end of March!) .  I masked off the first image, and stamped it again, to create a "pair" of boots.  Then I colored in the image.  I fussy cut out the boots, and put foam squares on the back.  I stamped the Flannel Life background stamp in Cool Pool onto a card front, then die cut a circle from Whip Cream to add a layer of separation between the patterned background and the colorful boots.  I stamped, and heat embossed, the sentiment onto a strip of River Stone Card Stock.  Then I layered all of my pieces together, adding a River Stone mat to the back of the card front.

Designer's Showcase Blog Hop | Love XOXO Valentine Card

Welcome to another Fun Stampers Journey Designer's Showcase Blog Hop!

♥  ♥  ♥  ♥  ♥

This month we are featuring some Valentine's Day Projects.  Do you send Valentines?  I send a few out to my mom, grands, and, of course, my hubby.  It's a wide variety of types of "love" to share and send, so I prefer to keep some generic "love" cards in my stash.

I like clean, and pretty cards, so of course my card starts with some bright Whip Cream card stock.  I cut a card base, card front, and a mat for the card front from the Whip Cream card stock.  I dry embossed the card front.

Clean and pretty Valentine/Love-themed handmade card. The Clean white embossed background sets a simple stage for the fun mix of stamped hearts. Using Fun Stampers Journey Coils & Curls, and Text Happy Stamp Set | muchlovesara.com

I layered up my banners (the trick to getting the angles to match, is to line up the strips in your hand, with the bottoms and side that will be angled all together.  Then cut your angle - they'll all match, and blend well together!), and adhered them with White liner on the two bottom layers, and Craft Glue on the top, tiny, strip.

I heat embossed the swirly heart and die cut it out.  Then, I layered that with some hearts that were punched out, and then stamped with some tiny sentiments.  They look like little conversation hearts, and I LOVE them!  In fact, I loved them so much, I had to create a second project using the same idea.  Check out my Instagram, and Facebook pages for that second project!

Poinsettia Card from Sketch

The team I am on, as a Fun Stampers Journey Coach, does a weekly challenge that varies from week to week.  This week, the challenge was a sketch challenge.  As soon as I saw it, I knew exactly what I was going to do, and it meant another Christmas card checked off the list!

Reds and white, with a bit of sparkly black and gold - perfect for Christmastime - don't you think?

And it really put me in a Christmas mood.  I'm breaking into my decorations this weekend.  I adore Christmas, and the magic around it, and hate limiting it to the busy few weeks right before the holiday.  I love having a few extra weeks to really enjoy my favorite things that only come out once a year.

As always, the supplies used are listed below.  Have you seen something that you would like to add to your craft stash?  I would love to have you as a customer!

Thanks for stopping by!

Much love,

Starry Make a Wish Card

If you follow my Instagram account, you may have noticed this crazy photo yesterday.   I decided to reorganize my mess in the craft room, and wound up breaking a set of shelves in half (seriously - it was a DISASTER!).  Which led to stuff piled everywhere, and "missing" cards.  Well, I've finally MOSTLY dug myself out, and found the cards to photograph - so I can post today.   YAY!

I'm reaching the en mass birthday time period for my family, so birthday cards are in high demand around here.  This one was super fun with the cheery primary colors, and quick and easy to make.

I've spoken  before about Bloom Benefits.  These are awesome perks that FSJ gives you for free, when your order reaches a certain amount.  There are perks at $50, $75, and $100.  And you can mix and match the perks to fit the amount you spend on your order.  The stars used on this card, are one of those Bloom Benefits.  I thought they added a fun touch to go with the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by!

Much love,

Inked & Embossed with Roses | What are Bloom Benefits?

For the second card I submitted for the final round of the Designers Showcase Opportunity, I wanted to create something that was in my style, but a bit out of my comfort zone as well.  Oranges, yellows, and greens, are not typically colors I use a lot of - nor do I often make brightly colored cards.  I wanted to try incorporating some of these fun colors, while still creating a soft and pretty card.

The gorgeous background technique on this card adds a beautiful textile like texture, while creating a backdrop for the handstamped and colored roses. Card was made using Fun Stampers Journey products, to shop, visit funstampersjourney.com/muchlovesara

The background was created with an embossing folder you can ONLY get as a Bloom Benefit.  I inked the portion of the folder where the pattern was going INTO the folder, and carefully placed my card stock onto the folder, and ran it through my Platinum machine.  This inked the background, while leaving the raised pattern white.

What are Bloom Benefits?

What is a Bloom Benefit?  When you spend a certain amount in my FSJ shop, you get to choose a coresponding Bloom Benefit for free, as a thank you for your purchase.  This happen EVERY TIME YOU PLACE A QUALIFYING ORDER!  The Brocade Imprints Embossing Folder that I've used on this card, is available with an order of $100 or more.  There are also Bloom Benefits available for each $75, or $50 you spend - and you can mix and match - so if you spend $200, you can get a $100 level benefit, and 2 $50 level benefits; or 2 $75 level benefits, and a $50 level benefit.  It's up to you!  Please message me if you have questions about the Bloom Benefits.

For the roses, I stamped each rose in the pink/red, and orange/coral colors, and then fussy cut the flowers out.  I then went in with my Color Burst pencils and added some additional shading and highlights to really make the roses pop.  I did the same with the leaves.  Layered over the vellum, black, and gold, banners - the roses are gorgeous!

Of course, my sentiment had to be heat embossed, and I wanted to add just a bit more gold, so I dotted the card with some fashion gold dots.

Even though the colors were a bit out of my comfort zone, I really loved how this card turned out.  It's bright, but still soft and pretty, and very much my style.

Thanks for stopping by!
