Yay!

Recently, a family member just achieved a huge (musical) goal he'd had since he was a kid, and of course I needed to send a card to congratulate him on making that dream come true!  Masculine cards aren't always easy, but this one came together so fast!

This quick and easy masculine card features a fun grungy Vintage Notes Background, as well as a metallic sheen on the Diamond Netting Embossing. Created using Fun Stampers Journey Stamps and supplies.

How I created this card:

  • I started by stamping the Vintage Notes background onto Whip Cream Card Stock with River Stone ink.  I die cut the stamped panel with the largest Journey Circle die, before I stamped and heat embossed my sentiment.  Then I inked the edges of the die cut.
  • I ran my card front (4"x 5.25") panel of Denim Days Card Stock through my Platinum machine with the Diamond Netting Embossing Folder.  Once that was embossed, I rubbed the Brush Silver PanPastel lightly over the raised portion of the image to add some light metallic sheen.
  • I added foam squares to the die cut circle, and set it on the embossed card front - slightly off the edge.  I trimmed the portion that over hung from the card front, and inked the trimmed edge to match the rest of the die cut.  Then, I mounted the card front onto a white card base.
  • A sprinkling of sequins finished off the card.

Birthday Yay! | Leadership Conference Display Card

It's no surprise to those who have been watching Assembled, but I've really been into watercoloring with my Splashes and silks lately.  This is the card that started all of that!

The large BDay Wall Stamp is perfect for the watercolor resist technique used on the backdrop of this card. The pretty aqua and teal tones make for a fun birthday card. All products used were from Fun Stampers Journey.

I started out by stamping and heat embossing the BDay Wall Stamp onto Color Splash paper.  Then I covered the paper in water.  I started brushing on the Pool Play Color Spash - spreading from the center, outwards.  I added additional layers as the paper dried to create some variation in the color.

I then stamped my additional sentiments on a strip of Blue Lagoon Card Stock, and mounted that on my card front, on top of a piece of Whip Cream Sparkle Tape, and with a bit of twine coiled behind.  A few flowers finished off the banner

Cheers!

A very quick post today!

This card was super fun, and an easy way to incorporate a patterned paper that may be a bit busy for your tastes.

This simple handmade card is perfect to make in bulk to keep in your stash for a last minute birthday wish. Made using Fun Stampers Journey Birthday Bash Embossing Folder, and Good Stuff Stamp Set.

The background was embossed, then the sentiment stamped onto the Whip Cream Card stock.  The die cuts are the same size, but slightly offset from one another.  A simple twine bow adds a bit of fluff and whimsy.  This card is super easy (less than 10 minutes!), easy to create in multiples, and works well for any age or gender.  It's a great all purpose birthday card to keep in your stash!

Heck Yes! | Leadership Conference Display Card

I've already mentioned that the sentiment sets in the new Bloom This Way catalog make my heart go pitter-patter.  The fonts used are just so pretty, that they can work on their own in a card.

Currently, FSJ Leadership Conference is going on in Texas.  As a member of the Designer Showcase team, I created a display for the Leadership event.  Today's card is one of the cards from that display, and I will be sharing additional projects once a week.

This fun & sunny yellow handmade (DIY) card, is perfectly appropriate for telling that special someone how awesome you think they are. Created using Fun Stampers Journey Good Stuff Stamp Set | muchlovesara.com

I create my cards on top of a gridded mat.  And our amazing Clear Blocks (On sale this month!) have a grid pattern, which allows you to line up your items on your paper.  This is helpful to create a background as I've done today, because I set my stamp on my block at an angle, and then I can use the grids to keep the stamp at the same angle every time I stamp.  Once I had stamped the "Heck Yes" stamp all over the background, I quickly rubbed it with Gold PanPastel.  The PanPastel adds a lovely subtle shimmer, and adheres more intensely to the places where I stamped, as the ink was still slightly tacky.

I then added some die cut pierced circles, and a splattering of gold silks.  I layered up my banner pieces, and sentiment, added a punched out heart, and some pearls and was done.

I loved this card.  It was honestly one of my favorites (and I'm sooo not a yellow person!).

Birthday Cheers!

A couple of years ago, I set a goal for myself to send out birthday cards to my family - and not just my mom, siblings, kids, and grands - but my cousins and their kids too!  And I was sending out birthday cards to a huge list of friends as well.  The post office loved me that year, as I was sending multiple cards each week.  And, over the course of that year, I came to love cards that were fun, and easy to create in a wide variety of colors, to suit different people.

Today's card focuses on a simple classy look, that can easily be made fun and funky, or soft and sweet, simply by switching out the colors of card stock, PanPastel, and Silk.

The card started with a Whip Cream card base, and a pierced circle cut from Cool Pool card stock.  I dry embossed the circle with the NEW Birthday Bash Embossing Folder, and then lightly brushed the raised impression with a bit of Brushed Gold PanPastel.

To inset the circle, I die cut my Rock Candy rectangle first, and splattered it with some Gold Silk.  Then, I cut a circle in the card front with the same circle die I used to cut my Cool Pool piece.  I used a bit of scrap card stock on the back , and adhered my Cool Pool piece into the Rock Candy rectangle with some craft glue.  I trimmed off the excess, and then ran the piece back through my die cut machine, with the piercing die for the rectangle.  My sentiment was heat embossed, and die cut from the circle that was cut from the Rock Candy card stock.

Designer's Showcase Bloom This Way Launch Party

Let's start this New Year off right...

You are officially invited to a party.
A FIVE DAY LAUNCH PARTY!

The new Bloom This Way Mini Catalog is OFFICIALLY open for ordering today!  To celebrate, the Designer's Showcase team will be featuring projects that we have been working on, behind the scenes, in preparation for this fun new catalog.  Through Friday, members of the team will be offering you daily additional inspiration on how to use some of the fun new stamp sets, papers, and products found in the Bloom This Way Mini Catalog.

Let's get this party started!

When I first got my Showcase package with my new Bloom This Way goodies, I literally squealed as I went through the box.  There were so many fabulous, and fun new sets.  I couldn't wait to ink them up and try them.  The "Good Stuff" Stamp Set immediately caught my eye - just look at that gorgeous hand lettered font!  And the Printed Rose Stamps intrigued me - I honestly wasn't too sure about them at first, but once I started stamping them out in various colors, I absolutely fell in love.

For this beautiful card, I cut 6 strips of colored cardstock at 5.25" x 1.5".  I choose the three blues specifically for an ombre look.  I ran the bottom edge of the strips over my Clear Pigment Ink Pad, and then coated them with Journey Gold Embossing Powder.  I also embossed the top  edge of the strip that would be at the top of the card front.  After heating the powder to a shiny finish, I used the fringe shears to cut the edge leaving about a quarter inch still intact at the top of the strip.  Once all my strips were "fringed", I used White Liner to adhere the strips to my card base.

See those gorgeous roses?  This set is a Hostess Set in the new catalog.  What does that mean?  Well, when you place a $300 party order (You can either get a group of friends to have a fun Make-it party and place orders, or just order goodies for yourself!), you can use the Journey Dollars you earn to get this set for FREE!  I adore this set, and other floral stamp sets in the Bloom This Way catalog - they do the shading work for you with one stamping.  After I stamped the floral pieces, I fussy cut them out.  I die cut an oval with a pierced edge using the Journey Oval Dies, and stamped and heat embossed my sentiment.  Then, for a bit more punch to the sentiment panel, I used some Party Pop PanPastels-  blended up from the bottom of the oval - to echo the ombre look of the background.  The sentiment panel and floral pieces were then attached to my card front with Journey Foam Squares.

I adore this card - it's fun, and pretty, just like these new stamp sets!  Tomorrow brings more creative inspiration from the Designer's Showcase team - and as my card promises, IT GETS BETTER!  Be sure to follow the FSJ Facebook Page, and Blog so you don't miss out on even more inspiration.  There are so many fantastic products in this new catalog,  I can't wait to see what you create as well!

Thanks for stopping by!
