October Coach Collective Sneak Peek and Preorder

October is nearly here - which means Halloween - which means that my yard will soon be full of blow ups and lights, and neighborhood kids.  We jokingly call it the season of drive-bys, because our little cul-de-sac starts to see a lot more traffic as people check out the decorations.  We've already purchased a few new things to add to the display as well, so it just keeps growing!

The new month also means that a new edition of Coach Collective will be available - and look at all of these cute peeks!  This edition is packed full of fun Halloween cards and projects.

I am thrilled to be collaborating with these talented ladies to bring you creative project tutorials featuring current Fun Stampers Journey products. Monthly, we create step-by-step written tutorials (with photographs), to complete a project.  All of these tutorials are then collected into that month's edition.  The tutorials are sent to you in one concise document, ready for you to enjoy!

You can get this tutorial collection two ways:

  • The first option is to use the Paypal Button below to order the PDF collection for $15, and I will send it out to you on the morning of October 1st.*

Autumn Greetings

It's definitely reached the point, here in Idaho, where the defroster/heater is on in the morning, and the a/c in the afternoon.  Sitting outside with my coffee each morning is starting to get a little chilly - and I LOVE it.  It's nice to watch the leaves turn, and start to fall - especially when it's hubby's job to clean them up (I swear I didn't snicker just now....promise!).

This textured and layered fall card, was created using Fun Stampers Journey Hello Fall bundle, and Barn Wall and Changing Seasons Embossing Folders.

Today's card combines embossing folders to create a textured, but clean background.  A few autumn toned leaves, peeking out from behind the sentiment panel, are a fun way to bring some color to the layout.

Are you loving the fall weather, or are you still stuck with summer temperatures?

Thanks & Giving | Video

Moving away from my non-traditional fall color scheme, and moving into one that is a bit more typical.  I was super excited to work with this stamp set.  Mostly, because looking at the images, I knew that they could be shaded into critters that would just jump off the page.

This fun, fall card was created using the Fun Stampers Journey Thankful Friends Stamp & Die Bundle, and the Flannel Life background stamp.

I used my Color Burst pencils to shade the images.  Both were stamped and shaded with the same colors used in the video.

Once my images were colored, I stamped and shaded a few leaves to put in the hands of the little squirrel.  I used my craft knife to cut a slit in between the hands, to tuck the stems underneath.

This fun, fall card was created using the Fun Stampers Journey Thankful Friends Stamp & Die Bundle, and the Flannel Life background stamp.

I stamped and then diecut the sentiment, and added foam squares to the back of it.  I adhered my critters on either side with craft glue, and then added foam squares to the portions of them that hung off the die cut.

This fun, fall card was created using the Fun Stampers Journey Thankful Friends Stamp & Die Bundle, and the Flannel Life background stamp.

I stamped the Flannel Life stamp in Whip Cream Ink, onto Oatmeal Cookie card stock.  This was layered up with a strip of  Mirror Gold, Dark Roast card stock, and some twine.  Then I attached my sentiment and critters, and added a Fashion Gold pieces scattered around.

Harvest Pumpkins

Growing up, I had a real love/hate relationship with fall.  It meant back-to-school time, which I was really conflicted about (I mean, on one hand, it's SCHOOL, and on the other, I lived in a very small town - in a valley that was pretty sprawled out - so it meant seeing my friends).  In particular, I wasn't a fan of the colors.  Orange, mustard, and orange-y reds just weren't, and still aren't, my favorite shades, so having them in your face for all the autumn decor was a bit much.  I've become a bit more open to using them, but still...

Soft, shabby, tones take over on this subtle autumn card. Created using the Fun Stampers Journey Host Exclusive stamp set All Year Long.

With that in mind, I chose to use some "non-traditional" autumn colors in today's card.  I stamped the pumpkins in Peaches & Cream, Fresh Sage, and Tin Pail, before fussy cutting them out.  They were layered over an embossed Tin Pail panel, and a Fresh Sage strip, that was heat embossed with my sentiment.  I wanted to add an additional detail of twine, so I used my craft knife to make two small slits on either side of the sentiment.  That gave me the ability to thread the twine through and underneath.

I actually love the resulting card.  It's "fall" without the colors I'm still not sure of.

Sending Smiles | Video

I love watercolor backgrounds - I find them to be so soft and pretty.  And I love the Liquid Colors, because they are so versatile in the pigmentation.

With the pretty watercolor background, created with Liquid Color, This pretty card is perfect for any occasion.

For today's card, I've used the Rustic Rose Liquid Color to create the background.  In the process video, I show you how I get variation in color - both by building up sections of the the actual watercoloring, and by using various strengths of the liquid color to flick over the surface.

On top of the watercolor background, I've added some Sparkle Silk splatter, a couple of banners, and a baby envelope die cut with a sentiment insert that is heat embossed in Copper.  A few pearls added the finishing touch to the card.

Monster Birthday

Birthday cards for kids are always fun to create.  You can use so many fun bright colors, and stamps that are intended for kids are generally much more hilarious.

This fun birthday card, with colorful monsters, was created using the Fun Stampers Journey Eyes on You stamp set, and Birthday Bash Embossing Folder.

For today's card, I started by stamping my three monsters onto Whip Cream card stock.  I colored them in using a LOT of Color Burst pencils - I probably used about half of the colors by the time I finished.  I worked to put a little bit of the coloring from the other characters, into each monster.  So, for instance, the blue monster at the front, has purple shading - and the green monster has purple appendages.  The green monster has orange shoes that are the same tone as the orange monster.  The yellow from the belly of the orange monster, is subtly echoed in the sign, and horns, of the blue monster.  Even though they are different colors, this helps to pull them together to be cohesive in the scene.

This fun birthday card, with colorful monsters, was created using the Fun Stampers Journey Eyes on You stamp set, and Birthday Bash Embossing Folder.
The card is very simple otherwise.  Layered card stock and printed paper, and a few Fashion Silver pieces are all it took to complete the card.

All I Want for Christmas | The Full Set

One more card from this week's Christmas set. Keep scrolling to see the full ensemble, along with a bonus card that was shown on my Instagram previously.

Clean and Simple handstamped Christmas Card - created using the Fun Stampers Journey Merry Everything Stamp Set, and the Cozy Winter Prints.

For this card, I die cut a piece of the printed paper into a heart shape.  I layered that onto Whip Cream card stock, and added a heat embossed piece of Cranberry Bliss card stock that was cut with a fishtail banner end.  I added two stamped and fussy cut reindeer, and then mounted the whole card front onto a piece of Raspberry Berry card stock for a mat, then onto a Whip Cream card base.

This whole set is so cute!  I love the clean and simple feel of each of the cards - and they all came together so quickly.  They would be so easy to create in multiples, and have all of your Christmas cards done!

The fourth card was one I created and posted on Instagram a few weeks ago when I was creating these cards.  I like a little humor, so I couldn't resist hanging the stockings from the reindeer's antlers.  The image was colored in with Journey Color Burst Pencils.

Happy Always

Today, I'm sharing another Christmas card made using the Cozy Winter Prints, and the Merry Everything Stamp Set.

Simple Christmas card with a slight 1950's retro feel. Created using the Fun Stampers Journey Merry Everything Stamp Set, and the Cozy Winter Prints.

For this card, I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment onto some Cranberry Bliss Card Stock.  Then I die cut a circle with the sentiment offset.  I die cut two circles from the prints, and then stamped and fussy cut the reindeer image.  I sprinkled some sparkle silk over the card front with the circles on it, before adhering the reindeer (with a Candy Apple Twine bow around his neck) to the card with foam squares.  I used a pink colored pencil to add just a little flush to the reindeer's face, and darkened in the hooves with a black pencil.

Merry Everything

I love the Cozy Prints paper pack.  There is such a fun variety of prints ranging from simple and cozy to bright and fun in this pack.  The colors in the brighter prints give me a slightly 1950s vintage vibe.  So, of course, I had to pair them with the Merry Everything stamp set - which has that same slightly retro feel.  And then I did it again.  And again.  And again.  Well...you'll see!

This hand stamped Christmas card has a fun 1950's retro feel, thanks to the bright and cheery colors. Created using Fun Stampers Journey Merry Everything Stamp Set, and Cozy Winter Prints.

For today's card, I stamped the tree image in three different colors, along with stamping the star once.  I fussy cut all of the images, and then adhered them onto my card front, on top of a circle and strip of the printed papers.  I stamped my sentiment in the lower corner, and then matted the card front onto another piece of Whip Cream, and then onto a card base.  A few Fashion Silver pieces in the corners added a little shine and interest.

Matchy-Matchy | Coordinating Colors for Printed Papers

In the video, that was in Wednesday's post, I mentioned having a reference sheet stored inside my printed paper pockets - that listed the coordinating card stocks for each print.  These reference sheets were incredibly useful, however, the sheets listed every paper pack, and I only purchase the ones that best suit my style.   I would print the full sheet each time to tuck into my folders, but I've always had it in my mind that there had to be a better way.
So, I've separated out the graphics for your personal use, for all of FSJ's current printed paper packs.  This way, you only have to print the sets you have, or simply save them on your computer for reference.
Right click to save the image.
