I got TWO amazing packages of fun, new, goodies yesterday!  I couldn't wait to tear into them to play with all of the fun!  This stamp set was not the first thing I had planned to play with, but once I saw the gorgeous Iris, I had to pull out my watercolor things, and give it a go.

The watercoloring was done by heat embossing the image in white onto watercolor paper.  I then painted the over the top of the image with plain water.  Once the paper was wet, I could "drop" color into the places that should contain the shadows, and it would spread towards the embossed outlining.  Once that was partially dry, I went back in with additional color to deepen the shadows.  This is a very easy way to get a soft watercolor effect that still has a bit of dimension.

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. your card is beautiful! I'm wondering if you can tell me where you purchase your watercoloring paper? It looks like a true white ?

    1. Hi Terri,

I'm unable to email you directly, so I hope you get to see this. I used Stampin' Up! watercolor paper. It's the third item in the supply list for the post.

It's not a true white. It is slightly warm or off white. I have yet to see a good watercolor paper that is TRUE white. I suspect this may be due to the fact that good watercolor paper is made from 100% cotton, and cotton is naturally off white - bleaching may affect the quality of the finished paper.

      Thanks for stopping by!
