Face Toward the Sun | Crafty Friends Blog Hop ft Picket Fence Studios

Hello!

It's that time of the month again!  Time for another Crafty Friends Blog Hop.  If you have not joined us for one of our hops before, the Crafty Friends Blog Hop is a group of friends who have all shared some common crafty beginnings, and we hop each month with a spotlight on a company we love.

This month we have chosen to spotlight Picket Fence Studios.  Nicole has shared a coupon code with us, good for the next two days.  Use the code CRAFTYFRIENDS20, to get 20% off of your purchase September 20th, and 21st.

For today's card, I wanted to create something that was vaguely fall like, and certainly encouraging (don't we all need more of that type of card right now?).  I chose the stamp set Face the Sun, because it fit both of those criteria.

I began the card, by taping a white A2 sized piece of card stock to my work surface.  I used the Life Changing Blender Brushes, to blend a gradient of Dried Marigold, Antique Linen, and Bundled Sage Distress Oxide Inks onto the background.  Once I was happy with the blend, I added copious amounts of water droplets, then sprinkled the background with gold shimmer ink.

I stamped the sunflower image from the Face the Sun Stamp Set, onto Pineapple Smoothie Card Stock, using Black Hybrid Ink.  I lightly shaded the image with Prismacolor Pencils.  Then I fussy cut the image, and mounted it on foam tape to attach to the background.  I trimmed the over hang off with some shears.

I placed the panel in my MISTI - to determine where the sentiment should go, and line it up - then stamped the sentiment with Black Hybrid Ink.   The final step was to add the card front to a white card base.

While you are hopping along with us today, don't forget to hop over to Picket Fence Studios (link will open in a new tab) and use the code CRAFTYFRIENDS20 to get the discount on your purchase - but it's only good for today and tomorrow, so hurry!

From here, the next stop in today's hop, is Lydia at Understand Blue.

Thanks for stopping by!

  3. All the picket fence large flower stamps are stunning. Love that this just peeks over the bottom of the card.
