Sweeter Than

Did you have a great Labor Day weekend?  We did a bunch of yard work at my house, and went to the zoo for a little bit Sunday morning.  Turned out to be a bit of a bust, in terms of seeing my favorite animals, but we did get fairly close to a few others that were out in their enclosures!

This fun card features a few fun mixed media elements, along with being a revisit to a stamp set that has not been used in a while. All products, including Copic colors, are listed & linked on the blog post for this card.

Today's card features the Fun Stampers Journey stamp set "Hey Honey" (all of the products used, will be listed at the bottom of the post).  I've used this set before, a few times, but it's super cute, and a fun stamp set to revisit.

To begin the card, I colored a bit of texture paste with a reinker.  I simply spread the paste onto palette (any non-porous surface would work) and blended drops of the ink in with my spatula until I had the color I was looking for.  I spread that onto a card front through the Vintage Screen stencil.  Then I used a stencil created from the Lawn Fawn Puffy Cloud Border dies, and ink blended some clouds onto another piece of white card stock.  I die cut  that ink blended panel using a Journey Circles die.  I also cut a branch using the Summer Branch die, from a piece of Green Olive card stock.

On another piece of white card stock, I stamped the hive, and bee stamp.  I stamped the bee three times total.  Then I colored in the images with my Copic markers, then fussy cut them out - while cutting the table off of the hive image.  I also used my Copics to add a bit of dimension to the Summer Branch die, by coloring in the branch portion, and shading the leaves.

I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment onto a piece of Dark Roast card stock, and then angle cut the end.  Then, using craft glue and small foam squares, I started assembling the layers.  I added the elements with the circle, branch, and sentiment strip all hanging off of the right edge of the card front, and once everything was adhered, I trimmed them down.  Then I matted the card front onto another piece of Dark Roast card stock, and attached it to a white card base.  A few Fashion Gold pieces finished the card.

And that's the card for today.  It seems like a lot of steps, but does go really fast.  As I said, the Hey Honey stamp set is one I've used several times before, is there a set in your stash that you haven't used for a while, that could use a revisit?  What is it?

Thanks for stopping by!
