Sparkle & Shine

Hello!

I'm going to be completely honest here.  I tried making this card a few weeks ago, and it was a complete and utter disaster (and totally user issues!).  I just couldn't translate what I was thinking that day, and this wasn't the only card design I tried.  Everything was a giant fail.  So I gave up and went to visit a friend.  When I sat down to create, the day I made this card, I decided to give this design another shot.  Surprise - it totally worked and came together so easily!  Do you ever have days like that?  I'm glad I didn't give up on the design, because this is a pretty card.

The fun Gem Turnabout from Concord & 9th creates a pretty background for this Sparkle & Shine card. Created using Lawn Fawn Inks, and a bit of shimmer.

For today's card, I used the Gem Turnabout Stamp Set from Concord & 9th (alt link).  I used my MISTI to stamp the turnabout using four colors of Lawn Fawn Ink: Minty Fresh, Deep Sea, Merman, and Fish Tank.  I used the mini cubes, however, the full size pads are also linked in the supply list, if that is your preference.  Once stamped, I set that panel aside while I stamped and heat embossed my sentiment onto a piece of vellum.

I die cut a circle from a Whip Cream card front, and then die cut a slightly smaller circle from a piece of Cool Pool card stock.  On the Cool Pool piece, I coated the edges around the circle die cut with my Nuvo Shimmer pen for some fun sparkle.  I then stamped some of the smaller gem and sparkle images onto the Whip Cream piece using the Minty Fresh Ink.

I adhered the Cool Pool piece behind the Whip Cream, and then layered the Vellum piece behind both of those.  I lined up my stamped gem piece behind the window when setting it on the card front, then used a pencil to mark where the top of the piece should be, before applying glue to the backside.  I adhered that down, and then added my layered pieces with some foam squares.  A few rhinestones added just a bit more sparkle to the card front.

Super cute, and the blues worked beautifully together.  I might be a little bit biased though - sapphires are one of my favorite gems, and aquamarine is my birth stone.  So I'm kind of drawn to blue jewels anyway.  If you made this card in the colors of your birth stone, or favorite gem, what color would it be?

Always There

Hello!

If you hadn't noticed yet, Thank You cards are kinda my jam.  I make, and send, far more thank you cards, than anything else.  So, I tend to be drawn to images and sentiments that express that.  Today's card features Picket Fence Studio's stamp and die set "Stand in the Sunshine".   I love scripty sentiments, so of course the sentiment drew me in, but the adorable foxes (and owls in the set) are also super fun to work with.

This super cute thank you card was created using the Picket Fence Studios Stand in the Sunshine stamp and dies.

I began by cutting a template from some type paper.  I folded my paper in half, and cut an arch in the paper.  I was then able to use both side of the template for my ink blending.  I started by blending the green ink on my card front, using the top portion of the template to block off the rest of the card front.  Once I was satisfied with the ink, I removed the template, and used the other half to block off the "hill", to ink the blue sky.  Using the Nuvo shimmer pen, I primed the pen on a scrap piece of paper, making sure the brush was full, then tapped a splattering of shimmer onto the card front. I set that panel aside, while I stamped and colored in my images on another piece of card stock.

Once the image was colored, I die cut the images, and attached them using a small bit of glue. I placed them onto the card front, in order to place my sentiment, then removed them while stamping.  Then I adhered them onto the card front, and trimmed off the overhanging pieces.  The card front was matted onto a piece of black licorice card stock, and then mounted onto a white card base.  To finish off the card front, I added some sparkling clear gems.

I love this cute card!  It's perfect for giving to a parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle, or even for a grandkid.

Mint & Navy Wish

Hello!

Inspiration is a fickle thing.  When I have no time to create, I have ideas like crazy..  But yet, when I actually have time to sit to create - I draw a complete blank.  Thankfully, looming deadlines can make me snap out of it.  One of my grandson's has a birthday this weekend, and I had to get a card made, and quickly in order to get it in the mail in time!   Gina K's Make a Wish Stamp Set to the rescue.

Sweet, and easy, birthday card created using the Gina K Designs Make a Wish stamp set.

I started by stamping my center cupcake and sentiment, then stamped the background with mint colored cupcakes, and layered navy cupcakes on top of that.  I used some Lawn Fawn inks, from a new-to-me set, for the colored inks.  (I've included the set, as well as the larger individual pads in the supply list, because I know some prefer the larger pads.)  I layered my background onto a piece of Cool Pool cardstock, and then onto a Denim Days card front.

On a separate scrap of paper, I stamped the cupcake I was going to color with black amalgam ink.  I colored in the cupcake with my copic markers, and then fussy cut the image.  I attached that to my card with foam squares.  I used Nuvo drops to create sprinkles on my cupcakes, as well as adding a few to the card front.

Copic Colors Used:
