Sparkle On

It's Day 7 of the new Catalog Launch Week!  Today's post wraps up a week work of inspiration featuring stamps from the NEW catalog.

I've shared a bunch of fun cards with you this week, but I saved my absolute favorite until last.  Today's card is more about the technique than the stamping, but is still amazingly fun - and just a little messy!

This Sparkling Card featured a fun watercolor splatter background, created with Fun Stampers Journey Silks. The sentiment stamped with the brand new Letterboard Sentiments stamp set, is heat embossed with a custom sparkle embossing powder blend. #fsjallday

I used Turbo Teal, Cool Pool, and Sparkle Silks to create the background.  Here's how: I started out with my media tray on my work surface.  Inside of the tray, I set a clear block, and on top of that, a sheet of Color Splash sheet.  I used a full size sheet that allowed me to slightly trim the edges to give the final product a cleaner edge.  I had a Media Mister full of water, and a paper towel close by.  I thoroughly wet the sheet of Color Splash paper with my mister, once it was wet enough that water was pooling on the surface, I started splattering my silks onto the paper.  Turbo Teal first, then Cool Pool.  I kept spraying the paper with water whenever the inks stopped moving freely when they hit the paper.  The paper towel was used to daub the edges whenever the ink started pooling on the edge of the paper.  Once I was happy with the color saturation, I splattered Sparkle Silk on the wet paper.  Then I carefully moved the paper to a non porous and heat resistant surface, and used my heat gun to dry it.

I trimmed the edges of the Color Splash sheet to clean them up, and used White Liner to adhere the paper to a Whip Cream card base.  I stamped and heat embossed my sentiment onto a strip of River Stone card stock, using a mix of 1/3 Sparkle Dust, and 2/3 silver embossing powder.  A few rhinestones completed the card.

Thanks for stopping by!
