Sisters Mini Album

I started this mini with the intent of getting it done REALLY quickly....yeah...I wan't so quick.  I would only work on it for an hour or two at a time, and fretted about each page, so it took me a month to finish.  And it's actually super simple and unadorned for the most part.  I really wanted my husband's aunt (who will be receiving the album) to be able to add her touches to it, along with her photos.   (She got the mini album yesterday, and LOVED it!!)

 Technique Notes:

  • I used the method of making a "paper bag mini album" shown by steffogal1 here.  I used plain kraft bags, and kraft cardstock to create the covers.
  • The title element is a chipboard piece painted with acrylic paint.  I stamped my title on, then layered clear embossing powder over that.  After I melted the powder, I poked the holes for the brads.
  • I made all the flowers.  The flowers on the front were made from punched shapes, the flowers on the inside of the album are quilled.
  • The bead spray was made using the method luvleescrappin showed here.
  • All edges were inked with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo.
  • Both the front and back covers, as well as each of the tags in the book were misted with homemade mists in Pearl and Gold (very lightly).
  • The nameplates for each page were made by printing each name out from the computer.  (When using an inkjet printer, allow the cardstock to rest overnight for the ink to set better - otherwise your glossy accents will become muddy.) Then I cut out the ovals, and covered the surface of each with a thick layer of glossy accents (Crackle accents would also work, but I used what I had).  The following day, I twisted each piece allowing it to crack.  I then rubbed the edges and the cracks with Vintage Photo Distress Ink, and then buffed the surface with a paper towel.  The pieces were mounted on chipboard letters that I covered in white glitter.
