Toucan Paradise | Concord & 9th NEW July Release

Hello!

Concord & 9th has their July release today, and I'm so excited to share THREE cards with you using one of the new stamp and die bundles, along with an additional die set that coordinates perfectly.   There are a lot of photos, and I've walked you through how each card was made, so this is a bit of a long post (you've been warned!).   The products used on the cards will be linked at the very bottom of the post.

For all three cards, I'm using the Toucan Paradise bundle (the stamps and dies are available separately if you'd prefer), and the Tropical Vibes die set.   The Tropical Vibes dies are also offered as part of the Tropical Vibes bundle - with a Turnabout stamp set - however, I only used the dies in today's cards.  If you'd prefer to purchase the ENTIRE release, there are options for you to do that.  There are several fun sets in this release.

These three fun Toucan cards were created with the NEW (July 2019) Concord & 9th Toucan Paradise bundle, and the Tropical Vibes dies.

The first card would be great for use with a thank you gift, or gift card.  For this card, I started with a panel of Whip Cream cardstock.  I stamped the larger solid leaf from the Toucan Paradise stamp set in Sweet Pear Ink around the edge of the card stock, then stamped the smaller leaf with Lemongrass Ink in the spaces between.  On a separate piece of card stock, I stamped the body of my toucan in Black Licorice Ink.  I used the coordinating die to cut a template from a piece of scrap card, and used that to help me line up the pieces for the beak. The beak pieces were stamped in Summer Days, and Tangerine Fusion inks.  I also stamped the branch image with Hazelnut Blend ink, onto Oatmeal Cookie card stock.  I used the Toucan Paradise dies to die cut the bird, and branch pieces.

I glued the toucan to the branch with some craft glue, and then laid him onto my card front to get the spacing for the sentiment.  I stamped the sentiment in Black Licorice, then added foam squares to the back of the bird to attach him to the card.  Once attached, I matted the card front onto a piece of Lemongrass card stock, and then added that to a Whip Cream card base.  A drop of Ebony Black Nuvo Drops finished his eye, and I added Morning Dew Nuvo Drops to the beak - you can maintain a little definition by filling in the top yellow section, and bottom orange section, first.  Then fill in the other sections after the first has dried for an hour or so.

The second card I'm sharing, is bright and colorful and fun for a thinking of you card! I started by stamping my Toucan in Blue Lagoon, Cool Pool, Summer Days, and Tangerine Fusion, using the die cut frame I used before.  Then I die cut the stamped Toucan, a Whip Cream circle, and used the leaves from the Tropical Vibes die set to cut leaves from Lemongrass and Fresh Forest  card stocks.  I stamped the sentiment in Candy Apple - slightly offset - onto the die cut circle.  I adhered my Toucan to the circle with craft glue.

Using a pencil, I lightly marked where the circle was onto a piece of Whip Cream card stock.  Then, using the same ink colors I used on the bird, I stamped some of the smaller images - lines, flowers, and triangles, around the edge of the circle.  Then I adhered the die cut leaves around the edge as well. I adhered the card front to a Blue Lagoon card base. Then, I added the circle using foam squares.  Again, I dotted the eye with the Ebony Black Nuvo Drops, and added White Nuvo drops around the outer edges for some texture and dimension.  I also used the Nuvo Glitter Gloss pen on the larger words of the sentiment.

The third, and final, card is perfect for any occasion. I started this card by stamping the Toucan in Bubble Gum, Cool Pool, and Banana Cream Inks.  I die cut the stamped bird, and also die cut the branch from some corrugated stock.  I die cut a whole bunch of the leaves from Fresh Sage, Mirror Gold, and Vellum card stocks.  I layered the leaves together, and then adhered them behind the bird and branch.

On a piece of Whip Cream card stock - the full size of a card front - I stamped the larger solid leaf image in Fresh Sage on the top and bottom of the panel, and then stamped and heat embossed the outline frond branch in the spaces between leaves.   I laid the toucan and leaf cluster I had created on the card front in order to line up my sentiment, and then I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment as well.  I adhered my cluster piece to the card front with foam squares, then attached the front to a Whip Cream card base.  I used the Ebony Black Nuvo Drops on the bird's eye once more.

I had a ton of fun creating these cards!  It was fun to try different color palettes for the bird on each card.  What colors might you try?
