One Sip

Hello!

I spent a good chunk of last week rearranging my craft room.  Often, I find that if I'm struggling creatively, it can help to change things around.  You can get a different perspective, and a different energy from doing so.  Not to mention, that you can get rid of some of the junk bogging you down (One load off to donation already, and likely more, once I really sit down and go through drawers!).

It worked!  Once I had everything cleaned up and back in place, I pulled out this  One Sip at a Time stamp set, from Unity Stamps, that I've been wanting to color up for some time, and went crazy with my pencils!

This pretty coffee themed handmade card, is perfect for any kind of occasion. Created with the Unity Stamps set "One Sip at a Time" and colored in with Fun Stampers Journey Colorburst pencils.

I stamped the cup image in Black Licorice Ink onto a piece of Whip Cream card stock.  I began by using the straight edge of a scrap of paper, and the lightest brown pencil, to softly draw in lines to create the corrugated look on the sleeve.  Then I built up my colors from there.  The Colorburst pencils blend together fairly well on their own, but I was adding lots of layers of color to this image, so I used a little Odorless Paint Thinner on a smaller (10/0) brush to help blend the color together - and I keep the brush dedicated for paint thinner.  I've linked a set of brushes below, so you can use the other brushes for other purposes  Blending this way is a good trick to use with wax based pencils, as it can allow for more layers of color before you get too much wax bloom.  TIP: There's a ton of paint thinner in the bottle, and you only need a little bit, so I keep a smaller amount that in a glass jar, so that I'm not pouring it out every time (and not making a giant mess, let's be honest). This is a perfect item to share with your card making friends, because a little bit goes so far!

I cut a small panel of corrugated stock, and tore the top edge at a slight angle.  Using that piece as a guide to placement, I layered the Cement Tile stencil over a piece of Buttercream card stock.  I inked up a dauber with Hazelnut Blend Ink, and daubed that off onto a piece of scratch paper, before softly pouncing the dauber over a portion of the stencil.  I then adhered the corrugated piece, and figured out the placement of my sentiment, which I stamped in Dark Roast Ink.

I knotted a small length of Cocoa Powder Gingham ribbon around the bottom of the card, and added the cup image with foam squares.  A few pearls, and a Whip Cream card base finished the card off.
