Sweet Freedom Wall Art

When I saw these papers, I knew I needed to make a piece for my house to display from Memorial Day through Fourth of July.  For those who don't know, my father was career navy, my grandfather served during WWII, and my great-great-grandfather was in the Civil War.  All three are buried in my hometown cemetery, and, for years, my family has put the flags on the veterans' graves for Memorial Day.  So I've always viewed Memorial Day as a patriotic holiday.  This paper just spoke to me, and I wanted to make something that was both pretty, and would suit both holidays.  It could easily be turned into a scrapbook layout, by tucking the bottom of a photo behind the burlap piece.

I adhered the background paper to a piece of 12x12 chipboard to add a bit of weight to the background.  At the time, I wasn't sure if I would be hanging this by some ribbon, however, I plan on getting a frame for this piece instead.

I cut the word "freedom" on my Silhouette, and layered it over a bit of angle cut burlap trim.  A doily, cut in half, was layered underneath, and then I piled on fussy cut elements and stickers from the paper collection.

A few dimensional flowers, and a large scattering of heart and star stickers, finished out the piece.

Thanks for stopping by!

Much love,
