Shake, Shake, Shake!

It's that time again!  Time for another challenge over at 613 Avenue Create!  This time around, the OPTIONAL twist to our anything goes challenge, is to use purple or a purple ribbon in your project, in honor of Purple Day (March 26th) for Epilepsy Awareness.

I was excited to work with The Cutting Cafe again!  It's so much fun to get some new shapes to use on my Silhouette, and boy did I use them!!!

We were able to use the 13 Shaker Card Templates and Cutting Files.  I used 3 of these files to create my projects today.   These files aren't just for shaker CARDS - the shakers you can cut with these files can be used for other things, and I wanted to show you some awesome things you could create - other than cards!

Project 1 (and a bonus project): Using the Single Butterfly Shaker

I cut the butterfly shapes from a sheet of Graphic 45 Secret Garden paper, lavender card stock, clear acetate, and some purple fun foam.  Before assembling the shakers, I sprayed the card stock (which would become the back of the shaker box) with some Recollections silver color spray, and some homemade clear sparkle spray. The butterfly shapes also come with a body and antenna shapes, but I chose to leave them off of my butterflies. 

I assembled the shakers using silver seed beads for the filler.  I used some white opal Liquid Pearls to dot some pearls onto the outer edges of the butterfly wing.  Once dry, I glued my butterflies onto a half of a paper straw (I cut the straw in half with a craft knife).

I also wanted to use the centers of the butterfly frame that makes up the top of the shakers.  I glittered up the edges of the small butterflies with some purple glitter glue, and then added some pearl flower centers and some pink roses from Michael's to them.  I strung them on some hemp twine and then poked holes through a couple of full length paper straws before threading the end of the twine through and tying it off.

Project 2: Using the Jar Shaker

This was a super quick and easy project that makes a fun tag to add to a jar of something homemade and yummy!  I printed out a strawberry background from Free Vintage Digital Stamps, and cut my shapes from that, white card stock, and some acetate.  Before assembling, I used pearl and silver embossing powders on the jar frame and lid pieces.  I also heat embossed a sentiment from a stamp from Papertrey Ink (a portion was masked off) onto the background.  I used a small strip of the strawberry printed paper to cover the foam on the outside of the shaker.  The sequins used were from my stash.  

To finish off the project, I used a cupcake liner to cover the lid of my jam jar, and a bit of twine I had to tie the tag to the jar.  The back of the shaker tag is blank to allow me to write a message to the recipient.

Project 3: Using the Star Shaker

My final project was made using a 5/8" x 12" plastic tube, some super yummy Sixlet candies, yellow polka dot paper, yellow cardstock, liquid pearls in gold, and some sketchy swirl stamps heat embossed in gold.  

I filled the star with gold seed beads and tied some tulle to the bottom to give a "shooting star" effect.
