Bonus Freebie Weekend!

So, I've been fairly lousy about my posting for a FEW months now.  Life got in the way, and unfortunately, I missed out on a few freebies and lots of other posts.  But I'm going to make it up to you!  I posted the Friday Freebie  yesterday, and I'm posting this freebie today, and there will be another freebie posting tomorrow!  So a WHOLE weekend of freebies!!!  All of the freebies will be available until Friday when next week's stamp posts.

Trying out a new "style" with this stamp.  It was fun to try something a little different and I enjoyed the style.  There may be a few more stamps like this coming - so, I hope you like it as much as I do!

Wooden Initial

Several months ago, while on a shopping trip with my hubby's cousin, I purchased a wooden "S" from Michael's, with the intent to decorate it to display somewhere in the house.  I painted the letter a deep burgundy and modpodged some scrapbook paper to the surface....then I put the letter in a drawer and would hide it every time I opened that drawer.

I HATED the color.

I DESPISED the paper I chose.

I finally pulled it out a few days ago, determined to do something with it...even if it meant sanding off the paint and paper to start over.  Luckily...a coat of watered-down gesso can actually work miracles, and I was able to recreate the letter into something I love.

Did you miss me?

Wow...six weeks have FLOWN by!  It's been crazy, and I've missed getting to do some creative stuff!  It may take me a bit to get back into the swing of things, but I thought I'd pop in and let you know where I was at least!  (All of the photos were taken and edited on my phone.)

For Memorial Day Weekend, Eldon and I traveled to my hometown.

We helped my mom put flags on the graves (her 24th year doing so!), put out flowers, and visited with family.  When it came time to leave, Eldon and I made the decision that I would stay behind for a while to spend some time with my grandma and mom.  "A while" turned out to be a full month.

During that month, I got a wild idea, and wound up chopping off my hair.

I donated the length to Locks of Love in my grandson Matthew's name.  His hair finally started falling out due to treatments.

About halfway through my stay, I got a phone call from my husband telling me about some family issues going on.  So, while I was gone, my niece and her son moved into our house.  I hadn't seen mini-E (her son) since he was only a few days old, so I wasn't sure how that would go, but he has apparently decided that Aunt Sara is pretty cool and wants to go everywhere with me right now.  (We'll see how long that lasts!)

On June 23rd, I finally made my way back home.  I spent several days cleaning and reorganizing my house.  I made cookies, I enjoyed some YUMMY strawberries, and I packed yet again.

I spent last week in the passenger seat of the truck Eldon drives for work.  His company wants the vehicles shut down for holidays, which meant he was going to be stuck in a hotel for the fourth of July.  So I got to ride along with him.  Luckily, we got it timed right that we actually spent the holiday in HIS hometown and we were able to see his family and distribute the cookies I made.

This is "Bennington Lake"....which is not the town name.
I grew up near a town named Bennington and hearing the name always makes me chuckle,
because, to me, the lake is in the wrong state!
While gone for the week, my puppies decided to Houdini their way out of the yard, and went missing for several hours

Luckily they were found, still together, by a very nice young woman, and my stepdaughter was able to go get them and bring them home.

I'm home now, the fence is fixed, I have a ton of housekeeping to do (not to mention laundry and grocery shopping), but I'm working on getting back to a creative point!

Also, while I was gone, I passed my 100th post, so I'm working on getting some things together for a small giveaway.  Keep your eyes open for that one!
