Pastel Rainbow Banners and Hugs

It wasn't until recently that I started getting into the whole rainbow color pallet trend.  But this time of year, I do prefer my rainbows to be a little softer.  The pastel rainbow of banners on this card is a good fit for spring.  I enjoy sending little "love notes" year round - just because Valentine's Day is over, doesn't mean that there are people in your life who don't need a little reminder that they are loved.  

Here's how I did it: 

• I dry embossed my card front.  
• I cut the colorful strips for my card front (they are 3/8" tall x 2" long - the Pool play strip is 3-1/4" long).  
• I stamped my sentiment on the shorter strips, then banner cut the right ends of all the strips.  
• I adhered them onto the card front. 
• I punched the hearts out one time.  I used the two smaller hearts from the punch, attaching one with a foam square.  
• I added a few rhinestones to finish off the card.

Golden Hugs & Kisses

I'm a huge fan of heat embossing.  Big surprise, I know., but I just love the way you can stamp something, and magically add a metallic sheen to it.  Usually, you see embossing used for a sentiment, or a line image.  For today's card, I chose to emboss the striped background of the card to add to the golden sheen from my sticker sentiment.  

One of the great things with the striped wall stamp, is that is pretty easy to line up to stamp twice and cover the whole background with horizontal stripe.  Just line the stamp up straight on your gridded block, and stamp near the top of your card front.  Than use the side edge of the stamp to line up the top stripe with the bottom stripe that you stamped the first time. 

A vellum circle, a few banner strips, and some punched hearts decorated the card.  Don't you absolutely love the Lovely Words Card Stock Stickers  They are GORGEOUS in person!  I'm definitely going to be stocking up.

Inspired By | A Cookie Made Me Do It | Video

I've had a few things said to me over the years - all in the same genre - about where I find inspiration.  Some were comments about how people didn't think they could be creative enough to come up with their own designs like I do; some were comments about not being able to blog their own creations, because they weren't inspired enough to create frequently; and some were from people who just wanted to crawl inside my head for an hour to figure out how my creativity "works".  Well, I'm going to show you!  I'm going to start sharing some occasional cards that are "Inspired by...", AND I will show you my inspiration.  

Inspired by a cookie

Today's card was inspired by a cookie posted by SweetSugarBelle on Instagram.  This cookie was so cute, and I loved the colors used.  I went a little more pink, rather than the coral tones that Callye used, but I think it works just as well.  

I used an embossing folder that you can get for FREE with an order of $100 or more.  However, if you don't have this folder, any pretty embossing folder would work to add texture to the card front.
